The TSW has updated its water level website, as requested by CEWF, to incorporate the 25-year average water level data line for each lake. This is a very valuable tool for assessing the state of the lakes.
To access the TSW site, click on 'Parks Canada Web Site' in the upper right-hand corner of this web page, or this web address directly: http://www.pc.gc.ca/lhn-nhs/on/trentsevern/visit/ne-wl/trent_e.asp
Note: from the TSW site, it should be observed that most of the lakes are currently not only above the average, but are above the historic highs. A very wet fall.
Does Parks Canada have any explanation for the current water levels in reservoir lakes being higher than historic highs?
Since these are controlled lakes, the very high water levels cannot be merely due to more-than-normal natural precipitation.
At this time of year, the dams are at ‘winter set’ levels, and Parks Canada would not normally be making log adjustments. The lake levels have risen due to the large amounts of rainfall.
