TSW Issues first drawdown forecast for 2022 – click here
The following drawdown forecast projects significant drawdown for almost all reservoirs. We are now experiencing fairly dry conditions with higher temperatures and significant winds which means less local inflows to lakes and higher rates of evaporation for the larger reservoirs and the Kawartha lakes. The downstream flows between the Kawartha Lakes and on the Otonabee River are being reduced to minimum levels. This is a worse case projection of drawdown such that if significant rainfall occurs the drawdown may be less than forecast.
From this point on the TSW Water management team will be releasing weekly updates to the drawdown forecasts which project out two weeks. This is a rolling forecast and it is important to monitor the forecasts weekly as conditions can change and the actual draw may be more or less than the forecast.
