Balsam Lake west of Coboconk is the highest point of navigation on the entire Trent-Severn Waterway at 256.3 metres (841 feet) above sea level. It’s the highest elevation a boat can reach in the entire Great Lakes – Saint Lawrence River drainage basin. West and east from Balsam Lake are both downstream.
