The Trent River basin encompasses an area of 12,530 square kilometres. Approximately 1/3 of this basin lies in the Canadian Shield where there are some 44 reservoir lakes that are dammed by TSW. The remainder of the basin encompasses the Kawartha Lakes which lie south of the Canadian Shield in the rolling farmlands of southern Ontario.
